Hawaiian Resorts Haul In Golf World Readers’ Choice Awards
Eight Hawaiian golf resorts have been included in the “Top 50 Resorts” category of Golf World’s inaugural Readers’ Choice Awards. Four resorts made it into the top 25, with Kapalua Resort on Maui taking the highest honors at #6. Poipu Bay, Kauai Lagoons, and Princeville Resort, all on Kauai, came in at #16, #19, and #22 respectively. Rounding out the top 50, Mauna Lani Resort and Mauna Kea Resort, both on the Big Island, ranked #28 and #41. The Experience at Manele, situated on the island of Lanai, came in at #39, while Wailea Resort on Maui snuck in at #50.
Resorts were ranked not only on the quality of the golf, but on a total of 13 criteria, including practice facilities, hotel accomodations, food/dining, service, and overall value.
Additionally, Ko’olau Golf Course on Oahu was ranked #33 of the “Top 50 Public Courses,” and Puakea Golf Course on Kaui came in tied for 34th.
This is the first year that Golf World has compiled rankings of public, private, and resort golf facilities. The Readers’ Choice Awards are unique to golf publishing, in that they are based upon the feedback of readers. Alternately, other major golf publications base their rankings on the judgements of panels of experts.
