Tadd Fujikawa Makes 3rd Straight PGA Tour Cut
Hawaiian home-grown hero Tadd Fujikawa has made it a perfect 3-for-3 in PGA Tour cuts for 2009. The 18-year-old high school senior shot a 2-under 70 in the final round to finish in a tie for 31st at the Puerto Rico Open at Trump International Golf Club in Rio Grande. He also made the cut at the Sony Open on Oahu, and last week’s Honda Classic.
Fujikawa was 4-under after two days of play, but played wildly in the 3rd round, tallying six bogeys and three birdies for a 75. According to Fujikawa, it was largely his putting that was to blame:
“I hit it well (Saturday) and just putted terrible. I missed two putts from three feet and in. It was not a very good day for putting. You’re going to have days like that. You learn from your mistakes.” (Honolulu Advertiser)
Fujikawa’s total money take from his three PGA tournaments this years amounts to $61,892, including the $19,850 he earned this week in Puerto Rico. Fujikawa’s next appearance will be on the Japan tour at The Crowns in April.
