Travel + Leisure Golf Closes Its Doors
In yet another sign of the times, T+L Golf has announced that its March/April 2009 issue will be its last. The glossy mag that brimmed with gauzy images of desirable courses near and far for 11 years has been unable to sustain itself amidst the recession. As a steady reader of the publication for much of its existence, I’m bummed not to have it around anymore to arouse my wildest golf fanatsies. However, from a purely selfish perspective, there is one thing about the final issue that I’m happy about: my book is in it.
In the Clubhouse section, in a break-out box that features a photo of President Obama, a reader asks the staff if the courses that the President played on his recent trip to Hawaii are worth playing. They recommend checking out Ernie Els’ (who wrote the foreword to my book) new course on Oahu, then direct readers to The Golf Fanatic’s Guide to Hawaii. That’s pretty cool.
Aloha T&L Golf! Mahalo for years of great golf coverage!

I noticed that Travel & Leisure Golf had nice things to say about your book, but I’m not blaming you for causing the magazine to go under. It’s too bad; it was a classy publication.
