Waikoloa Village is a few miles mauka of the big Kohala resorts, such as Waikoloa, Mauna Lani, and Mauna Kea, but it seems much more like your friendly neighborhood course back home. Oh, except for the views! The course at Waikoloa Village is one of Robert Trent Jones, Jr.’s first courses, but it has held up well. It’s not wildly challenging, which can be a relief after losing a dozen balls over at Mauna Kea. The vibe is relaxed, the people are friendly, and the greens fees are sub-$100: a fine recipe for a Hawaiian golf cocktail!
